The first thing to do was to get it in the car, a challange in itself! But after a good 10 minutes of "judicious manipulation" coupled with, ahem, "brute force", we got it there. which gave us an idea where it was likely to end up!


The next thing to do was slide the mounting plates under all 6 mounting points and, the plates came with the cage which saved a lot of work and mess fabricating them ourselves. They were then marked out with a big marker pen so we get them in the right place!

The next bit was to clean all the paint (and other horrible rubbery sealant stuff) off the shell where the mounting points are to be welded in, and also drill (really) big holes for the captive nuts in the plates. This involved grinders, drills, dust, noise and mess, so Jehu was in his element, so much so that he forgot to take some pictures of the process, so here are a few examples of the prepared plate areas:
