So Jehu decided that since he couldn't play in a car in the snow, he may as well just play in the snow. He recruited a willing helper, and into the snow we went, Jehu and Dan, armed with 2 shovels and a wheel barrow. (Onlookers did wonder what these boys were up to as most people were huddled in the warm, holding onto a cup of hot chocolate, breathing in the steam!)
An hour and a half later, the boys took a step back, and gazed over their achievements. A little small maybe, but there is only so much snow in the average garden. And here it is:

Now we must admit that it wasn't created in the traditional Inuit way by carving bricks out of the compacted snow. (Much too fluffy and soft) So Jehu and Dan created a new way. Basically you just need a big pile of snow, compact it down, cut a door, and then hollow it out.
There you have it, a Jehu style igloo. A perfect place for getting out of the wind, however it is lacking a little in power for Jehu usual antics of waving a grinder around. And the sparks would melt the walls!
Either way Jehu and Dan were pleased with their efforts for as long as it lasts, and ready for a bigger one in a park if there is ever enough snow and enough bodies to create it.
Maybe we'll be back in the garage when it warms up a little.
How big was the igloo? Any pictures of you guys in it? Looks perfect size for Noah - although this year he didn't like the snow - maybe next year he will be ready!!
ReplyDeleteYeah Its about perfect size for Noah! He could have happily played and sat up in there. It was a litle cramped for Jehu and Dan, so no piccys were taken!
